The Center for Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics (BFG) is part of Cedars-Sinai, located in Los Angeles, CA.  The aim of this Center is to integrate next generation sequencing technologies, evolving computational methodologies, and functional assays to understand the biological mechanisms driving cancer, and to apply these in the clinical setting to advance personalized health.  The Genetic Epidemiology group within the Center studies the role of both germline and somatic genetic variations in ovarian cancer with a specific focus on the role of non-coding variants and pathogenic coding mutations.

“It’s the promise of precision medicine: tailoring our approach to healthcare depending on a person’s background and needs. What genetics is doing is allowing us to imagine a future in which, based on individual screening, we can give a patient actionable advice”
